To most collectors, the London Bus No. 5 is the most famous Matchbox vehicle. Lesney introduced the first version (5a) in 1954. At only 2 inches in lenght, it seems tiny compared to today's model that measures a full inch longer. Throughout the years, the double decker bus remained a constant model in the Matchbox line, however, it grew periodically and changed body styles to reflect the times.
